Minnie passed away peacefully January 31, 2015 at the Dr. V.A. Snow Center in Hampton NB at the age of 88 years. She is survived by her only child Sandra Journeay (Bill); sisters: Breta Barbour, Shirley Gates (George) and brother, Cecil (MaryLou); Grandchildren: Shawna Smith (Troy), Dr. Shane Journeay and Craig Journeay; Great grandchildren: Kiara, Halle and Jack Smith; several nieces and nephews. Minnie was predeceased by her husband Harry, her parents Jordan and Hester Blackwood and her brothers Edward, Ben and Bert. Minnie worked all her life in the food service industry retiring as Cafeteria Manager at Memorial University. After retirement she still continued to impress everyone with her home-made bread and apricot cake. She was a very kind, loving and thoughtful lady who will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, visitation from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 on Friday February 6th. Funeral service to be held at the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Saturday February 7th, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
