WADE, (LYON) SHIRLEY NADINE
Shirley Wade, age 82, of Halifax, formerly of Central Blissville, NB, passed away January 30, 2015, in the QE II Health Sciences Centre, due to complications of heart disease. Born May 4, 1932, she was the daughter of James and Laura (Morden).
Shirley was a homemaker most of her life who loved cooking, baking, gardening and crafts. She spent many hours sewing, crocheting and knitting. She loved square dancing, listening to Bob play and sing at many community events and spending time with family and friends. She was very active in the United Church of Canada in all the communities she resided in during Bob’s military career. In later years, she went to work for White Rapids Manor as an outreach coordinator for Meals on Wheels and Life Line. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need in the community and volunteered many hours in various community programs.
Shirley was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years Robert Cecil Wade, along with her three sisters: Thelma Armstrong, Joyce Wood and Betty Lyon.
She is survived by her beloved sister Beverley (Clinton) Varner. Loving mother to Marilyn Dion, Hamilton, Ontario, Cheryle Wade-Lee, (Shae) Kelowna, BC and Rob Wade (Lynn), Hammonds Plains, NS; grandmother to Lisa Rideout (Steve), Michelle Wade (Dwight), Joy Longo (Peter), Krystle Lee, Katherine Lee, Katrina Lee (Trevor), Matthew Wade, and Gregory Wade; great-grandmother to Zachary Purnell and Chiara Longo. Aunt to many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will take place at St. Luke’s United Church, Tantallon, NS on Thursday, February 5 at 1 pm with Rev. Kathi Zwicker officiating. A memorial and interment will be held in Wirral, NB at a later date. A service in her memory will be held in Hamilton, Ontario on February 15 at 2:00pm at First Pilgrim United Church.
