TAYLOR, WALTER
With saddened hearts we announce the passing of our father Walter Joseph Taylor, 90, husband of the late Constance Marion Taylor , who went to be with his Lord and Saviour on February 06, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Saint John, NB on March 30th 1924 to the late Theresa (McManus) and James Taylor.
Walter was a caring and loving family man who was truly devoted to his faith. He served in the Second World War with the Royal Canadian Army. More recently, he served 35 years with the Saint John Fire Department retiring in 1984 as the Chief of the Training Division Unit.
Walter is survived by his children; Barbara (Harry) Flowers, Donna (David) Logan and Sandra (Garth) Lawson. He is also survived by his five grandchildren; Lori (John) Jackson, Stephen (Natalie) Flowers, Jason (Shannon) Logan, Jennifer (Brent) Cambers and Krista Proctor, and also 16 great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife and parents, Walter is predeceased by his sister; Margaret and brothers; James and Robert.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank Rev. John Martin, Father Brian Keating and the staff and volunteers of Ridgewood Veterans Wing for all of their kindness, care and compassion shown to our family.
Walter will be resting at the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Tribute to a Veteran Service will be held commencing the evening visitation. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 11 at 1:00 p.m. from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Memorial donations in memory of Walter may be placed towards the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
