CORPORON, Calvin John – 50, Wedgeport, Yarmouth Co., passed away on Friday, February 6, 2015 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born August 17, 1964 in Yarmouth, he was a son of Bernadette “Bernice” (Robichaud) Corporon, Wedgeport, and the late Ferdinand Corporon. Calvin worked many jobs in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Ontario, having worked as a fisherman, as well as at H. B. Nickerson Fisheries and Ocean Pride Fisheries. He also worked in the seaweed industry, apartment complex maintenance, truss fabrication and lobster pound worker at Captain Dan’s in Richibucto. But the job Calvin enjoyed most was being a bouncer at the Red Knight, Captain Kelley’s and La Taverne. He was a former volunteer firefighter with the Wedgeport & District Volunteer Fire Department, having volunteered for 22 years. He will be remembered by many for his inventive use of duct tape, just like MacGyver. In his spare time he enjoyed going to the breakwater to fish mackerel. Aside from his mother, Bernadette “Bernice”, Calvin is survived by a sister, Karen (Bud) Krafve, Wedgeport, as well as by his cherished nephew, Paul “Junior” (Kathy) Pothier, Yarmouth and several aunts, uncles and cousins in Wedgeport, Pubnico, the Richibucto area and Ontario. Aside from his father, Ferdinand, he was predeceased by a brother, Myron J. Corporon. Visitation took place from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, with prayers at 8:00, at H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Wedgeport. The funeral mass was held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 9 from Saint Michael’s Church, Wedgeport, Father Albeni d’Entremont officiated. Interment followed in the parish cemetery.
