HOLMES, GEORGE EDWARD LAWRENCE - It is with great sadness the family announce the death of George Holmes of West Saint John who passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Thursday, February 12th, 2015. Born in Saint John he is the son of Mrs. Lena (Miller) Holmes of Saint John and the late Clarence Holmes.
George worked for Social Development as a Human Service Councilor retiring in the early 2000s. He was a past member of the Canadian Legion Branch #69. He loved socializing and was well liked he had a quick wit and a good sense of humour. Those who loved him will miss him forever. Besides his mother, George is survived by his loving companion of over 30 years Noreen Arseneault of West Saint John; son George Jr. Holmes; daughter Jonita Holmes both of Saint John; brother Victor Holmes (Sandra); two grandchildren Keisha and Kenneth; nieces, nephews and friends.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation on Monday, February 16th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. Memorial service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 2:00 pm. Private interment at a later date.
