Evelyn "Eve" MacLeod

Evelyn “Eve” Esther Frances (Pitcher) MacLeod passed away on Feb. 14, 2015 at the Shiretown Nursing Home, Pictou, formerly of New Glasgow, and Westville.
Born Aug. 14, 1923 in Dartford, Stone, Kent, England to Maud (May) & Francis Pitcher, she was the last surviving member of her family.
Eve was predeceased by her husband of 72 years, Gordon M. G. MacLeod on Nov. 27, 2014. She joined him on Valentine’s Day.
Survived by children: Roger (Margaret) MacLeod of Barrie, Ont., J. Susan (John) Lorimer in Stellarton, N.S., and Carol (Dennis) Docherty of Meaford, Ont. Grandchildren: Dale (Nancy) MacLeod, David (Melissa) MacLeod, Gillian (Frank) Docherty, and Andrew (Mona) Docherty, all of Ontario. Great-Grandchildren: Matthew and Amanda (MacLeod), Eric and Nicole (MacLeod), Holli and Taylor (Clarke), all of Ontario. Predeceased by a son, Robert Leslie (Bobby) MacLeod in 1968.
Eve enjoyed being a homemaker and worked alongside her husband in their hardware business located in Westville.
Mum was a wonderful cook and enjoyed her family very much.
She and Gordon were founding members of the Westville Heritage Group.
She was an avid bowler and curler, card player and past treasurer of the Overseas War Bride’s Association.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow, and also attended St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Westville.
Special thanks to the wonderful care Mum received at Shiretown Nursing Home and to Dr. Jeans and Dr. Farrell. Also to her wonderful friends: Sondra Lank, Sandra Rushton, and Jack & Judy Marshall.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation by request. Committal Service will take place for both Mum & Dad in the spring. Donations may be made to Palliative Care Aberdeen Hospital, or charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. www.eaglesfuneralhome.ca
