It's with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Muriel B. Corbett on Feb. 12, 2015, at home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Glace Bay on March 23, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Colin and Florence (Boutlier) Peach.
She was raised by the late Edgar and Mary Miles. Muriel was an avid dart player and in her early years loved to coach and play baseball.
Muriel is survived by her husband of 45 years Pius (Tommy); her children, Tammy (Bernard); Timmie (Teresa); Paulette (Chris; Florance (Peter); John (Robin), all of Dominion, by her 14 grandchildren, Catherine, Bruce, Jordan, Bernard, Katelyn, Tanis, Sam, Amanda, Tommy, Alyssa, Daniel, Peter, Keidi and Chris and one great-grandson Hunter. Muriel also leaves behind seven sisters and three brothers, Mary (Greg) Corbett Manitoba; Valerie (Marvin) Boutlier; Stella (Johnny) Boutlier; Paulette (Buddy) Usher; Sharon (Gean) Vaters; Vivian (Larry) Pasher; Lucy (Raymond) MacNeil; Ross; Freddy and Joseph, all of Glace Bay; also her sister Olive Miles, Ontario; Aunt Edith MacKenzie; Kenny and Kevin Miles who always had a special place in her heart and by several nieces and nephews.
Muriel was preceded by brothers, Archibal (in infancy), Kevin and Fred Miles and our special angel great-grandson Landon.
Cremation has already taken place. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015, from 1-3 p.m. with funeral to follow in the chapel at Patten Funeral Home, Glace Bay.
We would like to send out a special heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff of Glace Bay General Hospital, the VON and Palliative care nurses and all those who helped care for Muriel during her Illness.
