WHYTE, MARGARET ALICE (McEACHERN)
September 26, 1944 - February 6, 2015
The family of Margie Whyte wish to announce her passing at the Lakeshore General in Pointe Claire, Quebec. Margie was born in Chatham, N.B. to Josie Burbridge and Charles McEachern.
After high school she attended Business College and worked as a stenographer. World War 2 was raging and the air force base in Chatham was extremely active. Margie participated in the many social events at the base. She met Alec Whyte from Lachine, Quebec and they married July 11, 1945. They spent their entire married life in Lachine and Hudson, Quebec. Margie was a housewife who took great pride in her home and supported her husband and two daughters in all of their endeavours. Every summer she would travel to the Miramichi Bay, first to Chatham and then from 1959 onward to Burnt Church. In 1981 Alec built a house for the family at Burnt Church and many special Christmases and summers were spent there. Margie volunteered in both Lachine and Hudson, played bridge and entertained at her home. In 2008 she survived a choking incident and spent her last 6 and 1/2 years being cared for at Residence Vivendi in Montreal.
Margie is survived by her two daughters Heather Neilson (Murray) and Valerie Whyte (Kerry Babcock), Fredericton. Three grandchildren, Eric Neilson (Tri Ningsih) Victoria, B.C. Olivia Babcock and Lauren Babcock, Fredericton. Two great-grandchildren Alex and Ally Neilson. Her brother Harry McEachern and his family Hudson, Ohio.
She was predeceased by her husband Alec Whyte on November 2, 2014.
A celebration of Margie’s life will take place at her cottage in Burnt Church this summer.
