Edmund Tedford
TEDFORD, EDMUND EVERETT
Ted Tedford of St Andrews, NB, died suddenly on Saturday, February 7th, 2015 while on holiday on the island of Curacao.
He is survived by his loving family: his wife Beverley (Downe), their three children Sara (David), Lisa Morrison (Peter) and Edmund (Melissa), and grandchildren Sam, Will and Ellie. He was always ready to listen, share wisdom, inspire a new project or give a big hug. Ted is also survived by his loving sister Susan Desaulniers and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ted grew up in Montreal, the son of the late Vera Jean (Adams) and Edmund Hayward Tedford. He graduated from the University of New Brunswick with a law degree in 1968 and soon after set out with Bev to make a home for their family in the Maritimes. He started his own law firm in Moncton in 1972 and retired from the firm, Tedford Delehanty and Rinzler in 2004.
Ted was a dedicated volunteer in the community. In Moncton, he was a long time member and past president of the Moncton West/Riverview Rotary Club, the Greater Moncton Planning Commission, the leadership of Riverview Boy Scouts, the executive of the Riverview Figure Skating Club and the session of St. Paul’s United Church. Since moving to St. Andrews, he has served as president and treasurer of the St. Stephen-Milltown Rotary Club, treasurer of the Passamaquoddy Lodge and Foundation, and Trustee of Wesley United Church.
Ted loved to travel and was always ready to take on a challenge, sharing countless ocean and lake adventures with his family, turning the backyard into a skating rink, waxing the skis, and loading the car for a road trip; teaching his children and grandchildren how to build a bonfire, wash a car, pitch a tent, make pancakes, read an instruction manual, prepare a lobster, enjoy great music, laugh and relax. In recent years in St Andrews, he loved to walk, golf, explore the coast and spend time with friends and family.
A memorial service in celebration of Ted’s life will be held at Wesley United Church in St. Andrews on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 2 pm with reception to follow at Sunbury Shores Arts and Nature Centre, 139 Water Street.
