Rebecca Pearl Ball-May 7, 1939-Feb. 10, 2015 “She used her lips for truth, her voice for kindness, her love for compassion, her hands for charity and her Heart for love". With her family by her side, Pearl Ball passed away on February 10, 2015 after a three year courageous battle with breast cancer. Pearl was born in Grand Falls-Windsor to parents, John and Jane Hillier. She was later adopted by Pastor Selby and Bessie Callahan. She felt blessed to be loved by two families with a total of thirteen siblings. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband David of 55 years, four children Evelyn (Robert) Piercey, Carolyn (Arthur) Weagle, Neil (Nancy), and Gail, three grandchildren Amanda, Jennifer and David, great-grandchild Cameron, as well as many relatives and friends. Besides being a devoted wife and mother she had many other talents. In the 1950’s Pearl graduated from the Prince of Wales College in St. John’s, NL with her teaching degree. She taught in a one room school house where she positively influenced many. In 1966, Pearl completed a course with the Canadian Red Cross Society for home nursing and volunteer nursing services and then attended a tax training institute in 1975 in Ontario and for many years after held various jobs in and out of the province, mainly Ontario and Nova Scotia where she met and befriended many people. She will be remembered for her artistic skills which was a happy hobby. There is many a home across Canada with a beautiful painted rock, birdhouse or heart-warming short story where she placed so much love and attention. No words can convey how truly special and talented a woman Pearl was.
