It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Melvin passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones in Brantford, Ont, on Feb. 22, 2015.
Born in North River, N.S. He was the son of the late John P. and Christine 'Tina' MacAskill. Melvin would later move to Ontario with his wife and children, spending his summers “back home” in Cape Breton.
He will not only be remembered for his stories, along with his love of motorcycles and cars. But mostly for the love he had for the people who called him “Papa”.
Melvin is survived by his loving wife, Edna; children, Brian, Gayle, Michael and Laurie-Anne; grandchildren, Jonathan, Melissa, Rebecca, Sara and Kali; great-grandchildren, Aria and Lilly; brothers and sisters, Joe, Henry, Richard, Norman, Anna-Mae, Peter, Angus, Annabelle, Sarah and Carley. Along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
