BETTS, MELVIN STAFFORD
(1935-2015)
BASS RIVER, NB - Melvin Betts 80, of Bass River passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges. L. Dumont University Hospital Center, Moncton on Monday, March 2, 2015. Born in Brown's Yard, he was the son of the late George Betts and late Julia (Young) Betts. Melvin enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming and spending time with his family.
Melvin will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 50 years, Betty May Betts; two sons, Clinton (Star), Tony (Cherie) all of Bass River; one daughter, Tammy (Stacy) of Moncton; grandchildren, Krista-Jenna, Garrett, Adam-Jesse, Trenton, Blake and Chalie Dawn. He is also survived by one sister, Norma (Leonard), two daughters-in-law, Yvonne and Lisa and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parent and three brothers, Myles, Edward and Carl.
Resting at Thompson's Funeral Home, Richibucto with visitation one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 2:00 pm, Thompson's Funeral Home Chapel, Richibucto, officiated by the Reverend Cecil Symes.
Donations in Melvin's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the NB Lung Association or charity of the donor's choice.
Thank you to the Moncton City Hospital cancer doctors and nurses on the 6th floor and to the Dr. George-L. Dumont Hospital doctors and nurses in the dialysis unit on the 2nd and 4th floors, and to the Extra Mural nurses for the great care looking after Melvin. We are very grateful for the many thoughts, prayers and the support we have received from our community.
