Katie Isabel Parsons Button (nee Poole)

It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, Katie Button. Passed peacefully away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, St. John's at the age of 86 years. A loving mother, she always placed her children first and encouraged them to make the most out of life. Katie raised her family and continued to operate the Parsons grocery store in Salmon Cove until 1980, after the passing of her first husband. Katie was an active member of her church, UCW and LOBA. Never sitting idle, she always had knitting or handiwork in her hands. Predeceased by parents, three brothers, three step-brothers, first husband Harold Parsons, second husband Morley Button and two infant sons. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, children Sylvia, St. John's, Gordon (Suzanne), Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Phyllis (Gordon), Edmonton, Alberta, Elsie, Mount Uniacke, Nova Scotia, Susan (Bill), Burton, New Brunswick, Kay (John), Williams Wood, Nova Scotia; step-children Gerald (Gloria), CBS, Harvey (Chris), Old Perlican, Audrey (Edward), Mount Pearl, Evelyn (Terry), Whitehorse, North West Territories; twenty-six grandchildren, forty-four great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; two sisters Edna, British Columbia, Maude (James), Grand Falls Windsor and one brother Ed (Dawn), Fredericton, New Brunswick. Resting at Noel's Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear on Friday, March 6 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, March 7 from 10:00 to 11:45 a.m. Funeral service to take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7 at Riverside United Church, Salmon Cove with interment to follow at the United Church Cemetery, Salmon Cove.
