DEWITT, BARBARA JEAN
Barbara DeWitt passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at The Moncton Hospital. Barb was born in Fredericton, the daughter of the late Ralph and Margaret (Owen) Gorman.
Barb is survived by her husband of 63 years, Albert E. DeWitt of Moncton; her daughter, Suzanne Gaskin (Gary); her son, Albert O. DeWitt (Kathy), all of Moncton; grandsons, Andrew Gaskin and his girlfriend Kristina Dove of Enfield NS, Alexander Gaskin and his girlfriend Alexandra Ballard of Toronto, ON, and Joshua DeWitt and his girlfriend Gabrielle Robichaud of Moncton. She will also be missed by her nephew, Michael Gorman (Sue) of Fredericton and a special cousin, Norma Jenkin (Derek) of Toronto, ON.
Besides her parents, Barb was predeceased by her brother, Owen D. Gorman and his wife Edna; as well as her nephew, Ralph Gorman, all of Fredericton.
Barb was a charter member of Mount Royal United Church, and over time served on various committees and was a CGIT leader. She was a lifetime member of the UCW and a member of the Bremner Unit, as well as the craft group and as an avid reader, the book club. Tuesday was her favorite day of the week, as she spent time with a group of much-loved friends in craft group and UCW. Besides her church activities, Barb enjoyed spending summers at her beloved cottage in Murray Corner, NB, and in earlier years, she enjoyed curling at MCA and camping with family and friends. As members of the NB Antique Auto Club, she and Al enjoyed many trips in their 36 Chev, the most notable being a cross-Canada tour in 1975.
In keeping with Barb’s wishes, there will be no visitation hours. A Service to Celebrate Barb’s life will be held at Mount Royal United Church on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with The Rev. Dr. Beverly Daley officiating. Reception to follow the service. Interment will take place in Fredericton at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995).
