1923 - 2015
Miramichi – Mae Alice Stewart, widow of the late Merrill Stewart, of Douglasfield Road, Miramichi, passed away at her residence on Saturday, March 7, 2015, three days before her 92nd birthday.
Born in Douglasfield, on March 10, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Bernetta (Walsh) Connell. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Pauls Anglican Church, Miramichi; a former member of the A.C.W. of her church.
She is survived by four daughters, Joan Trevors (Winston), Donna Doyle (Kerin), Patsy McFarlane (Mattie), Sharon McEacheron (Robert), all of Miramichi; two sons, Lloyd (Helen), and Bruce (Shirley), all of Miramichi; three sisters, Joyce Johnson (Reg), Linda Shaddick (Winston), Molly Worrell, all of Miramichi; one daughter-in-law, Gail Russe;;; one son-in-law, David McMahon; two brothers-in-law, Edward Shaddick, Bud Godfrey; two sisters-in-law, Lorna and Lea Connell, all of Miramichi; seventeen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Merrill, in 1966; one daughter, Myrna McMahon; one son, Wayne Stewart; five sisters, Audrey Bemister, Gladys Lynch, Shirley Foley, Marilyn Shaddick, Jean Godfrey; three brothers, Douglas, Burton and Eldon Connell.
Visitation will be at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, on Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 pm and Wednesday, from 2 and 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held from St. Pauls Anglican Church on Thursday, March 12th, 2015, at 2 pm, conducted by Rev. Richard Steeves. Interment will be in the church cemetery, later in the spring.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Extra Mural Nursing Program or any charity of the donors’ choice would be appreciated by the family.
