We regretfully announce the passing of Theresa (Kennedy) Wells. Theresa passed away peacefully on March 8, 2015, following a brief illness.
Born on Feb. 19, 1956, and raised in Whitney Pier, Theresa was the daughter of the late Ray and Marie (Keough) Kennedy.
Following graduation from Holy Angels High in 1974, Theresa worked for many years as a ward clerk at St. Rita Hospital. She later worked at Nazareth House for the Diocese of Antigonish and was most recently employed at Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
Theresa was admired and respected by all who knew her. She was a true and loyal person to many wonderful friends throughout the years, including her lifelong childhood friends, Kathy and Liz. Theresa was known for her kindness, her sense of humour, and for her love of music. She was a proud, devoted, and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Left to mourn Theresa’s passing are her husband of 40 years and love of her life, Duncan Wells; their two beautiful daughters, Sarah Jane (Brad Lyle), Knoxville, Tennessee, Laura Marie (Reg Lahey), Sydney, along with her five granddaughters, Tessa, Talia, Ruby, Nora, and Matilda. Theresa will be sorrowfully missed by her brothers, Pat (Theresa), Vincent (Kendra), Raymond and sister, Jane; her sisters-in-law, Brenda Franklin, Gina Wells; her brother-in- law, Donald Wells; mother-in-law, Margaret Wells; her loving and supportive uncle and aunt, Joe and Mary Keough, along with her many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Theresa will be waked at S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, on Wednesday, March 11 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at Holy Redeemer Church in Whitney Pier on Thursday, March 12 at 2 p.m. with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating.
In lieu of flowers, Theresa’s family ask that you please make a donation to the palliative care unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
