DOUGLAS IVEL CLARK

DOUGLAS IVEL CLARK

July 22, 1928 - March 1, 2015
Doug passed away quietly in his sleep at St. Mary’s Hospital on March 1. He had been living in Roberts Creek with his daughter for the past five years and previously in Birch Bay, Washington for 20 years with his wife of 56 years, Joyce, who passed away in 2010.
Survived by his brother Alan (Edith), children James, Jo (Jann) and Carol (Fred); grandchildren Alexandria, Ian and Jakob; nephews David, Ken and Don, and their families.
Doug had many good friends and touched so many lives with his positive attitude, genuine curiosity and good humour. He loved meeting new people and going to new places. He had many adventures as a civil engineer and later a telecommunications engineer, which took him all over B.C., Texas, Alaska and Washington State. Doug loved fishing (eating said fish) travelling (Rarotonga was his favourite) and soaking up life. “Life is what you make it” was his mantra. He was truly self made and so respected.
He persevered for years through many devastating health issues with such a positive attitude, we could all learn from his example. He was truly loved and will be missed greatly. Goodbye, Papa.
Many thanks to Dr. Marton, Dr. Bishop and Dr. Morantz and the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital for taking such good care of Doug.
Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
