Dowe, Perry A. - Age 77, of Ward’s Brook, Cumberland County passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at South Cumberland Community Care Centre, Parrsboro. Born in Ward’s Brook, he was a son of the late Perry and Marie (Allen) Dowe. Perry worked at the Wagstaff and Hatfield Shipyard in Port Greville for many years. He also worked with his brothers operating Dowe Brothers Contracting. Upon his retirement, he worked with his daughter at Durant’s Bottle and Recycling Depot in Parrsboro. Perry was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and gardening. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by daughters, Tanya Dowe (Bill Durant), Parrsboro; Heather Winters (Mike), New Prospect; Jessica Amon, Ward’s Brook; sisters, Leona Dowe, Vivian Duguay, both of Wards Brook; Ruby Crossman (Culton), Halifax; Marion Legere, Parrsboro; Althea Legere (Pat), Enfield; Faye George (Willie), Helen George (Johnny), all of Acton, Ont.; brothers, Allan (Judy Wheaton), Wards Brook; Kenny (Carol), Diligent River; grandchildren, Haley Winters (Landon Crowe), Valley; Claire Winters and Ava Winters, both of Halifax; Will Durant, Parrsboro; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Donna McCulley in 1986; brothers, Sterling, Bill and Isaac. Visitation 6-8 p.m. today [Thursday, March 12, 2015] at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro, where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Friday [March 13, 2015], Rev. Dawn Léger officiating.
