HIERLIHY, Joan –Passed peacefully away at the Hoyles Escasoni Complex on January 19, 2009, Joan Hierlihy, age 89 years. Predeceased by her husband Oscar G. Hierlihy; her brothers: James Butler, John J. Butler and Bertram Butler; her sister Daisy (Tot) Hopkins. Leaving to mourn her daughters: Marilyn (Joseph White), Jo-Anne (Brian Cosier); her sons: Jim Hierlihy (Barbara Newell), John Hierlihy; sisters: Vicki Cheeseman, Margarite Drover, of B.C., and Flora Laugheed of B.C.; brother Fred Butler of B.C.; grandchildren: Barbara (Gerard Hynes), Diane (Claude Randell), Jackie (Jesse O’Donaghey), Stephen Griffiths (Corrina Ingram), Karl Griffiths (Tina Parker), Heather Cosier, Gillian Cosier, Adrienne (Walter Tilley), Paul Hierlihy (Kelli Lush); as well as a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Avenue, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m., on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Funeral service 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2009, from Topsail United Church. Interment to follow at Topsail United Cemetery.
