With great sadness the family of Harry E. Bernard announce his death on
March 12, 2015 at the age of 85 years.
His greatest love in life was his wife Beth, his four children and his precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nothing brought more joy to Harry’s life than spending time with his family and friends.
Born on August 31, 1929 to Harry and Mildred Bernard of Breadalbane, he was the sixth of eight children. It was on P.E.I. that Harry made his home, found and married the love of his life and raised his family. In his early adult life he had various jobs before taking a position at Maritime Electric where he enjoyed working for 38 years and developed many lifelong friendships.
Harry and Beth married in 1952 and built their home on Brackley Point Road where they lived until moving to Whisperwood Villa in 2011.
Harry is survived by his wife Beth; his sons - Brian (Liz) and Paul (Shelley); his daughters - Judy (Dale) and Dianne (Mike); grandchildren - David, Jason (Ashley), Jennifer, Jamie, Matthew, Ryan (Morgan), Danae and Nick; great-grandchildren - Keeva and Lylah; his bothers - Wayne and Keith; and sister - Jean.
A Celebration of Harry’s life will be held at the Belvedere Funeral Home on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at 11 a.m. (Please note change in time and day.) There will be no visitation as per his wishes.
The family greatly appreciates the support and compassion that he received at Whisperwood Villa over the past four years and the care given by Dr. Rogerson and nurses on Unit 8 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in his final days.
In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society if desired.
