Passed in: Sydney
Passed on: March 12th, 2015
Blair Brewer, age 58 of Sydney, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2015 in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of Thomas and Lorraine (Dipenta) Brewer.
For over 30 years Blair worked for the Town of New Waterford as Comptroller. Then when the CBRM became united, Blair was the Manager of Finance. He thought he would have a change of pace and became the Manager of C200. His final job with CBRM was the Manager of Fleet.
Also for 30 plus years, Blair volunteered for numerous organizations. He was the Chairman of the Board of Home Care. The girls say he was their voice of reason and calm. He was the Chairman of the Miners Memorial Society. Blair was a member of the CBRM EMO.
Blair was the driving force to organize and start the Cape Breton Auto Show. He was always the one to proudly hand out the Trophies with Nancy by his side.
In our spare time, we would go antiquing and for long drives in the country and picnic at Kennington Cove.
He will greatly missed by his wife and Best Friend, Nancy (Head) and his loving son, Blair Morgan. Blair is survived by two sisters, Wendy (John) and Cathy (Joe), many nieces and nephews.
I would like to take this time to thank the nurses and doctors of CCU. The long late night chats and telling stories at his bedside was a comfort at this time. Paula, Pam, Jennifer, Marion and Barb, you all mean the world to me.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. There will be no funeral service.
Online condolences to the family can be expressed at www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
Donations to The IWK in his memory would be appreciated.
"Good night Dude, I love you"
