Moore, Donald Wilson, Waverley, age 70, died on March 11, 2015, in the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, after a brief illness. Born in Abney, P.E.I., he was the son of Fannie Moore, Gillis Lodge, Eldon, P.E.I., and the late Wilson Moore. Don coped with severe Type 1 Diabetes for 58 years and in later years became legally blind as a consequence of the disease. He did not let his handicaps prevent him from having a full active life, spending many hours hiking, cross country skiing, swimming, biking and gardening. Don had the spirit of adventure and he and his wife Mary travelled to many countries around the world. He was a member of Stevens Road United Baptist Church. The joy of his life was his two little grandsons, Ethan and Sami. Surviving are his wife, Mary (Roland), Waverley; son, Andrew (Lori), Jeddore; daughter, Marsha (Ayman), London, U.K.; sister, Joyce Wood (Robert), Stratford, P.E.I.; brother, Jerry (Elsie), Abney, P.E.I., and several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be at the Atlantic Funeral Home, Main Street, Dartmouth, on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A memorial service will be held at Stevens Road United Baptist Church, Dartmouth, on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 2 pm. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory of Don may be given to Bayside Baptist Youth Camp, 1503 Ketch Harbour Road, Sambo Head, N.S., B3V 1L3, 902-868-2267.
