Ronald Watters

WATTERS, RONALD
It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald "Ron" Campbell Watters on March 10 in Thailand.
Ron grew up in Saint John, graduated from Saint john High in 1966 and received his B.A. from Carleton University in Ottawa in 1970. Upon graduation Ron worked as a social worker for the Province of N.B.; however, most of his working career was spent in the airline industry. He retired from Air Canada in 2009.
Ron loved language and became fluent in French and had a working knowledge of German. He was passionate about teaching reading skills to those less fortunate and he served as a past president of R.E.A.D. Saint John.
Upon retirement Ron split his time between Ottawa and Thailand. It was in Thailand that Ron truly found inner peace and was initiated into the Buddhist Monastery in Burma a few years ago.
Ron is predeceased by his mother Eileen, father Ronald and wife Amber.
He is survived by his brother Richard (wife Kathryn), his niece Jessica and nephew Anthony; his Uncle Kenneth (Bud) Campbell and several cousins.
A special thanks to his long time friends Richard and Magarite Cline who were like family to him.
Ron’s body has been cremated and his ashes spread in Thailand by the Buddhist Monastery, as was his wish. A special memorial service will be held in the spring, date to be determined .
Ron will always be remembered for his big heart, sharp wit and thirst for knowledge. RIP beautiful soul.
