The death of Hazel Grove resident Margaret “Midge” Douglas (nee Wheeler), 84, occurred on January 18, 2009, at the Palliative Care Unit of the Prince Edward Home in Charlottetown. A veteran of the Second World War, Midge was the wife of the late Dr. Louis Harold Douglas; the beloved mother of Lynne Douglas (Andrew Wells), Anne Douglas and Ruth (David) Martin; the grandmother of Tony Wells, Krista Wells (Michael Fuller), Zachary Wells (Rachel Lebowitz), Ben Wells (Someilia Smith) and Eva Mikhaila Jane Deeble; and the great-grandmother of Tanner, Hollen, Alex and Kaleb. She is also survived by her sisters, Gladys Hanna, Barbara Halliday and Patricia Orr and brother-in-law David Douglas. She will be missed by her devoted dog, Mouji. Special thanks to Debbie and Garner Collister for their friendship and support. Besides her husband, Lou, Midge was predeceased by her parents, Stanley and Eva Wheeler. There will be no visitation or memorial service by personal request. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Island Nature Trust would be appreciated.
