Ian Turner Maxwell - 91, of Kentville, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2015 in the Veteran's Unit of Soldier's Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Senneville, Quebec, he was a son of the late Richard and Bessie (Turner) Maxwell. He was a veteran of the Second World War, having served overseas as a tail gunner on Lancaster bombers. He graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Science in 1950. Following graduation, he was employed with Canadian Industries Limited (CIL). In 1964, he became the founding president of Hillcrest Development Company Limited. Ian also served as a councillor for the Town of Kentville. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Madge (Vaughan), Kentville; a sister, Sarah, British Columbia; a daughter Cathy, Kentville; two sons, Richard (Loretta), Kentville and John, Indiana, USA; a grandson, Ian, Alberta; a granddaughter, Lauren, Halifax; a great grandson, Cohen, Alberta. He was predeceased by a son, Ian Colin; a sister, Margaret; a brother, Richard. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. A celebration of his life was held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2015 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Cathy Pharo officiating. Family flowers only, by request.
