Ethel Louisa McNutt
McNUTT, Ethel Louisa – 84, Truro, passed away peacefully, with loving family at her side, on Friday, March 20, 2015, at Elk Court, Brookfield. Born June 30, 1930, in Truro, she was the daughter of the late James William and Cora Ethel (Baird) Ripley. Ethel is survived by her sons, Brian (Phyllis), Bedford; Bruce (Debbie), Truro; daughter, Deborah, Truro; granddaughter, Jennifer, Truro. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Harry (2006); sisters, Jennie Boomer, Gwyn Ripley, Bertha White, Laura Henderson, Sybil MacLennan; brothers, Watson, Ainslie “Bill”, Norval, Everett. Ethel enjoyed knitting, quilting, needlepoint, playing cards, jigsaw puzzles and going for long walks. The family would like to thank the staff of Elk Court for the wonderful care they gave to mom during the past four and a half years. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Ethel’s family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., today (Monday), March 23, 2015, and funeral service 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2015, Reverend Donna Lawrence officiating. Reception will follow. Spring interment in Crossroads Cemetery. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Ethel’s memory to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, Valley United Church or a charity of your choice are welcomed.
