It is with deep sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Anne Catherine Henry, age 94, on Friday, March 20, 2015, at Taigh Solas in the Northside General Hospital.
Anne was born in Dunvegan, Inverness County, a daughter of the late Daniel and Catherine (Keagan) MacPherson. She was a member of St. Joseph Church, North Sydney and never hesitated to declare that Christ was the center of her life. More than anything, Anne will be remembered for her eagerness to serve others unselfishly. Anne worked for many years as a domestic in her parents’ home based clinic, where she was dedicated to compassionate care of the sick. Later, she spent 18 years as a stewardess with CN Marine until her retirement.
Anne is survived by her only granddaughter, Leslie Donovan and son-in-law Bill Donovan (Jan), North Sydney and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Joseph Dunstan Henry, her daughter Sheila Donovan, her brother Stanley and her sisters Jennie Mildred, Viola Marie, Florence, Margaret, Theresa and Mary.
The family would like to extend special thanks to those who cared for Anne in her last years, especially the staff of Taigh Solas. Your kindness went beyond the call of duty to make Anne’s time on earth truly enjoyable.
There will be no visitation by request. A funeral mass for Anne will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, March 27, 2015 at St. Joseph Church with Rev. Patrick O’Neill officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of W. J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations of goods or funds to a local food bank or to a shelter for the homeless in Anne’s memory, would be much appreciated.
