It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bill Devoe, 89, of Florence, son of the late Frederick and Henrietta (Doucette) Devoe of Alder Point.
Born Dec. 6, 1925, in Alder Point, Bill was a dear husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He passed away on April 7, 2015, at Richmond Villa in St. Peter’s.
He started his own business in TV sales and service in Florence, a career that spanned 30 years until he retired in 1989.
Bill is remembered as a gentleman who loved the outdoors, trains and horses. He also had a passion for music and art and loved playing the guitar and painting.
He is survived by his wife Gertie (Theriault); daughters, Cathy Hanrahan and Wanda (Scott) Stevenson and sons, Kelly, Billy (Jackie) and Blair (Tracey). He is also survived by his brothers, Clarence and Thomas and sister Mary Eva (Ough) as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by daughter Ester, son-in-law Gary Hanrahan, sisters, Sabina (MacDonald), Della (Gaskell), Mary (Fry), Margaret (Chapman), Bernetta (Doyle) and Elsie (Marsh), Martha and brothers, Russell, Charlie, John Albert, Hubert, Ernest and Elmer.
There will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place with burial at a later date. The family is very grateful for the excellent care that he received while at Richmond Villa.
