It is with broken hearts, we the family of Joyce MacQueen announce her peaceful passing at sunrise on April 19, 2015.
Born in North Sydney on January 23, 1933, she was the daughter of the late William D. and Mary Hastie. She was the last surviving member of her family.
Our mother was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. She lovingly devoted her life to our Dad and family. She enjoyed decorating our home, providing a cozy atmosphere, to a welcoming perfection, with lots of great meals, and many cherished memories. She shared her faith and trust in our Lord and Savior, which provided our family with a strong foundation.
She is survived by her sons; Ken (Sally), Maitland, NS, and Mark (Rhoda), Leduc, AB; daughter Joy (Ken); and one granddaughter Crystal.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by our father; her husband, her love, William ‘Buddy’ MacQueen, on April 13, 2013, exactly two years and one week ago, as well as her sisters Margaret, Mina, Helen, Janet, and brothers Jim, Bill, Alex, Johnston, John, Archie, Matt and Bob.
Special thanks to her many nieces and nephews, whom she loved so dearly, especially Billie and Alex Hawley, for all the baked goods, love and laughter you shared with Mum, to Mary and Percy Steele for your loving support, and nephews Gary, Kevin and Chris Miller, your thoughtful visits were something she looked forward to and enjoyed very much. To Eileen Forrest, for being a faithful friend to our family for as many years as we can remember, and to Barbara Fraser for your cheerful Sunday visits.
Cremation has taken place, and a graveside memorial service for the family will be held at a later date.
Donations in Joyce’s memory may be made to Cancer Research, or to a charity of one’s choice.
Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
“You can only have one mother; patient, kind and true, no other friend in all the world will be the same to you.”
Peace Perfect Peace, Mum.
