It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we the family of Don MacLellan, 56, announce his passing, on April 24, 2015.
Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Alex and Mary (Lussier) MacLellan.
Don was a free spirited man who enjoyed a good time with his family and friends. In his earlier years he was a avid scuba diver, he also loved a good game of tarabish, playing darts, puttering around in "the barn" doing woodworking projects and watching his favourite team, the Toronto Maple Leafs.
For many years he worked for Peerless Carpets in Ontario, later returning home to Cape Breton.
Don is survived by his sisters, Betty (Pat) Bartlett, Sydney, Florence, (Rodney Timmons), Dominion; Carol, at home; brothers, Allan, New Waterford, Dougie (Shauna), David (Jennifer), both of Ontario. Don will also be sadly missed by sister in-law Georgina (MacLellan) Wilson; aunt Carmen Woodland and uncle Romeo Brennan; many nieces, nephews and cousins, with special mention of his best friend and cousin Blair Woodland, who was like a brother to Don, and friends Sheldon Hefferman and Curtis MacPherson.
Besides his parents, Don was also predeceased by brother Alex MacLellan in 1990.
Visitation will be held tommorow, Tuesday, April 28, 2015, from 1-3 p.m. with a funeral service following at 3 p.m., with Deacon Leo Penny officiating, all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith St., New Waterford.
In honoring Don's wishes, following the funeral service cremation will take place.
Memorial donations in Don's memory may be made to the SPCA.
