Passed peacefully away at St. Luke's Home on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at age 97. Born in St. John's, she was the youngest daughter of the late James and Rebecca Mayo and the last surviving member of her immediate family. Edith was predeceased by her beloved son James, her first husband Ronald Wilcox, her second husband Leonard Gosse, and her son Eric. She will be sadly missed by her surviving children: Ron (Anne) Wilcox, Halifax; Edith (Fred) Lyall, Mount Pearl; Jean (Ray) Jones, Tennessee; Linda Murphy, Mount Pearl; daughter-in-law Joyce Wilcox, Kitchener; step-daughter Ruby Felix, Halifax; her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. She was a strong spirited woman who loved travelling, music and any form of social contact. Visitation will be at Barrett's Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Avenue, Mount Pearl, on Friday, May 1st, from 2 pm-4 pm and 7 pm-9 pm. Funeral service will be from Barrett's Chapel on Saturday, May 2nd, at 10 am. Interment to follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Flowers or donations to the charity of one's choice gratefully accepted.
