Wesley Glen Hierlihy

1921-2015
Wesley Glen Hierlihy was born May 12, 1921 in Tabusintac, NB to Philip Hierlihy and Martha Hornibrook, the youngest of his twelve siblings.
Tabusintac would leave a lasting impression on Wes and he remembered his childhood in rural New Brunswick fondly. When he came of age he enlisted in the army and fought overseas in Europe during WWII. Wes' anti-aircraft unit saw Canada's liberation of Holland and he was in Germany the day the war ended. After returning home he took an opportunity to work in a pulp mill in Newcastle, NB where he met Carol Jones, and in 1951 they were married. Wes' career in the burgeoning pulp and paper industry took the family to the west coast and back again before settling in New Glasgow, NS. Over his years there with the company Wes demonstrated his natural work ethic and he rose to become Mill Superintendent. After retirement Wes and Carol moved west to Alberta to be closer to family.
Wes passed away peacefully at home on April 22, 2015 in St. Albert, AB. Wes' sense of humour, intelligence and love for his family will be dearly missed.
Wes is survived by his wife Carol, son Glen, daughter Susan (Stephen), and grandchildren Patrick, Conor (Emily), and Amber.
