FEHR, Leslie “Blaine”- 50, of Upper Ohio: It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Blaine Fehr on Friday, May 1, 2015 at Roseway Hospital with family by his side after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born in Toronto, raised in Hebbville, he later moved to Upper Ohio to pursue his love in the Forest Industry. Blaine worked hard and took pride in all the many things around him such as his forestry machinery, his log truck, his home and property, but most of all his family. A favorite past time was going for multiple drives in the woods to admire the work that was completed by him and his crew. Blaine was a great man that was blessed with many great friends and family and knew how to have a great time and a good laugh. Apart from hunting and fishing his next favorite hobby was his annual moose hunting trips to Cape Breton. Blaine was fortunate to tag along for the last fifteen or more years and always had many humorous stories to tell. In 1985, Blaine came to Ohio after high school working for Long Lake Lumber. After the mill burned down he pursued his career in forestry. Melvin, Granddad to Blaine, had an old skidder which Blaine purchased, thus was the beginning of Blaine Fehr Logging. In later years he expanded his business after purchasing several more pieces of equipment and hired six employees. After his illness, he retired, leaving the family forestry business to be passed down to yet another generation, being owned and operated by his son Lucas. Left to mourn his loss is his loving wife of 26 years, Tina Fehr (Slauenwhite); son Lucas (Ashley) Fehr, Upper Ohio; daughter Sarah, still at home; father Leslie Fehr, Upper Ohio; brothers Wade (Heather) Hebbville; John (Lisa) Lower Ohio; nephews Nicholas (Holly) Slauenwhite, Pine Grove; Joshua Slauenwhite, Maitland; Trevor and Jamie Fehr, Lower Ohio; niece Ava Fehr, Hebbville. Blaine was predeceased by his mother, Brenda Fehr (Bower). Cremation has taken place under the care of H.M Huskilson’s Funeral Home Shelburne. Visitation took place on Tuesday May 5, 2015 from 7 p.m.- 9 p.m. at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home Shelburne. A celebration of Blaine’s life was held on Wednesday May 6, 2015 at 2 p.m. at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Chapel, Shelburne with Rev. Ed Trevors officiating. Burial took place in Middle and Upper Ohio Union Cemetery. A reception was held after the ceremony at the Middle and Upper Ohio Fire Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Society, or the Middle and Upper Ohio Fire Department. Our heartfelt thanks go out to Dr. O’Sullivan for his constant care and kindness as well as his colleague Dr. Kousaie, Dr. Riley and Palliative Care Nurse Tracey Smith, Ruth Waters for continued support, Nurses at Roseway and Yarmouth Hospitals, Dr Hollenhorst and team at the Oncology Unit in Halifax as well as everyone that was involved in Blaine’s care.
