WELOCK, JEAN E.
At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, NB., on May 17, 2015, two days after celebrating her 99th birthday with loving family at Loon Bay, Jean E. Welock passed away. Born May 15, 1916 to John A. and Ida (Hunter) McLeod, Jean was the youngest of a family of seven, all who predeceased her; Margaret, Jack, Ken, Malcolm, Don, and Mary.
On October 6, 1945 she married her true love, George N. Welock, and together they established Loon Bay Lodge, a sportman's retreat on the St. Croix River. They ran the business successfully together until George's untimely death on May 18, 1976.
Surviving are her daughters Jane (Peter Garnett) and Karen (Don) Olmstead, both of St. Stephen. Five grandchildren; Matt Garnett of Haines Junction, Yukon, Adam Olmstead of St. Stephen, David Olmstead (Lorena) of Halifax, Megan Olmstead of Kelowna, BC and Scott Garnett of Saint John, NB.
The last two years were an unexpected blessing due to her friendships formed with people and staff at Lonicera Hall, her wonderful home.
Resting at the S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main St., St. Stephen, NB from where the Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 22, 2015 at 2 PM. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home from 1 to 2 PM on Friday. Interment at St. Stephen Rural Cemetery, St. Stephen, NB.
