It is with great sadness that we, the family of Mary Theresa Amadio announce her peaceful passing on the morning of Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Seaview Manor surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Reserve Mines, she was the daughter of the late Michael & May (Finnell) Currie. Theresa was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. A a woman of strong faith she had a special devotion to Saint Elizabeth Ann Seaton. Theresa worked for many years at the Chowder house in Port Morien.
She is survived by her sons Reggie (Judy) and David (Trina), her daughters Mary (Jules) McLeod, Elizabeth (Cameron) Matheson, and Cecilia (Paul) Hines, grandchildren Lauren and Leigh Amadio, Colin and Jonathan McLeod, Becky and Ryan Orr, Lawson Hines and Kelesy, Elle and Bailey Amadio as well as great grandchildren Aiden, Brooklyn McLeod and Ryder Hearn. Also survived by her sisters, Sr. Carmelita Currie, Ursula (Mike) MacDonald, and brother Fr. Reginald Currie, as well as her sisters-in-laws Anna Currie and Cecilia Currie, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Theresa was predeceased by the love of her life Neil, brothers Jake, Michael, Basil, sister Angie Campbell, and son-in-law Robert Orr, sister-in-law Peggy Currie and brother-in-law Sandy Campbell.
The family would like to sincerely thank the wonderful staff of Seaview Manor for their compassion and care, as well as Dr. David Lee.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 19 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Currys Glace Bay Funeral Home, 775 Main St. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 20th at 11 a.m. in at St Marys Church, Port Morien. Interment will be in St Gregory's Cemetery. Rev Norman MacPhee and Rev Reg Currie will concelebrate. A reception will follow in the Port Morien Fire Hall.
