Joan Hanna
Passed peacefully away on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital in her 79th year. Formerly of Spencer Cove, Placentia Bay. Daughter of Victor and Edith Hollett. Predeceased by her parents; sisters: Verna Thaxton and Edith Wareham. Leaving to mourn her sisters: Daphne Squires (Cal), Ivy Blackmore (Harold) and Gwen. Also leaving to mourn many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Joan was an employee of the Royal Bank for many years, and was the first female bank manager in Newfoundland. She was also an active member of the Ladies Choir at Wesley United Church, a very involved member of the St. John's Curling Club and Bridge player at Bally Haly Curling Club. She will be remembered and missed by everyone. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave. on Tuesday from 2:00 pm. - 4:00 pm. and 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm. and on Wednesday from 2:00 pm. - 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm. - 9:00 pm. Funeral service will be held from Wesley United Church on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
