Alvin A. Durnford - Nov. 13, 1935 – March 7, 2015- Passed peacefully at Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Centre, Alvin Ambrose Durnford of Summerford, aged 79 years. Alvin was born and raised in Parson’s Harbour, Hermitage Bay. As a young man he went to Gaultois to work as a clerk with Thomas Garland and Company, then to Corner Brook and worked there as a manager with Stedmans. Later he moved to Lewisporte and while working there he met his future wife Audrey Boyde of Summerford. They moved back to Parson’s Harbour where Alvin managed his father’s business and married Audrey. A year later their son, Ross was born there. In the mid-sixties the family moved to Port aux Basque and Alvin and Audrey were employed with Beauchamp Hardware. In 1985 they relocated to Summerford and Alvin worked with Breakwater Fisheries, Cottlesville until his retirement. Alvin is predeceased by his parents Ambrose and Annie, little brother Ross and his father and mother-in-law Garland and Ruby Boyde. Alvin leaves to mourn with cherished memories his wife Audrey, son Ross (Beverly) and grandson Benjamin of Port aux Basque, brothers Joe (Mary), John (Sally), Keith (Debbie) of St. John’s, also he will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by the Boyde family Verna, Oliver, Evelyn, Marguerite, Maxine, Marilyn, Alvin and Glenn.
