Mary Hartery

HARTERY, MARY GENEVIEVE (nee CHASE)
After a courageous battle with cancer, Mary passed away on November 26, 2014.
Mary was born in Saint John, New Brunswick May 4, 1956. She was a graduate of St. Vincent’s High School in 1974; she was active in the Girl Guides and the Naval Reserve and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of New Brunswick in 1981, majoring in Geology and Chemistry. Her passion was Geology and she worked as a staff geologist for various uranium companies in Northern Saskatchewan. It was there that she met the love of her life and best friend Dolan Hartery. They married in 1984 and moved to Ottawa where Mary began a career as a consultant.
Mary is survived by her beloved husband of 30 years, Dolan. She will be greatly missed by her mother Phyllis Chase (Day), brothers Walter James Chase (Irene), James Aisaican-Chase (Phyllis deceased and second wife Anngyllal), and her huge extended family of relatives and friends.
Mary was predeceased by her father Walter Chase, her sister Gwendolyn Behroozi and brother-in-law Cyrus.
Her cheerful smile, infectious laugh and loving hugs will be missed by all her knew her.
A celebration of Mary’s life has been held in Ottawa; so as to give the opportunity for Mary’s many relatives and friends to remember her in New Brunswick, a celebration commemorating Mary’s life will be held in Saint John. Everyone is invited to the Celebration on June 2, 2015, at Holy Trinity Church basement, 21 Canon St., Saint John, between the hours of 2 to 5 and 6 to 9pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to Hospice Care Ottawa; donation cards will be available at the church.
