Moise Porier, 93 of Grand Etang, Inverness County, passed away May 29, 2015, at Sacred Heart Community Health Centre, Cheticamp.
Born in Cheticamp, he was the son of the late Leo and Mathilde (Deveau) Poirier.
He was a veteran of the Second World War. Moise was a pioneer of the ground fishery in the Cheticamp area. He was an avid gardener, suppoert of the Co-operative Movement. A loving husband of almost 71 years, fervent Catholic and member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 32 and also the KOC Council 3850.
He is survived by his wife Marie Elizabeth (Aucoin) Poirier; daughter Monique Marie (Poirier) Aucoin (Joseph Didace), Grand Etang; grandchild, Wade Darcy Aucoin and his wife Carole Deveau; great-grandchildren, Renée Deveau Aucoin, Olivier Deveau Aucoin and Alexis Deveau Aucoin.
Predeceased by grandchild Quentin Leo Aucoin, two brothers, Alex Dave Poirier and Clarence Poirier, four sisters, Zabine (Poirier) Boudreau, Marie Hélène (Poirier) LeLièvre, Dora Poirier Boudreau and Sr. Bernadette Poirier (Soeur Alexis).
Visitation was held Sunday at St. Joseph's Church. Funeral mass will be held today (Monday) at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, St. Joseph du Moine. Interment in the parish cemetery.
