It is with great sadness that we announce Ian's sudden passing. Ian is predeceased by his parents Donald and Isabella and his loving wife of 30 years, Fran. He is survived by his children Dana and Donnie (Emily), his granddaughter Tamara and partner Donna, as well as siblings, nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Ian grew up in Summerside, PEI where he was avidly involved in hockey. As a young man he moved to Port Alberni for a job at the pulp mill, stayed for a girl who became his incredible wife and raised a beautiful family who will miss him dearly. During his life he was a dedicated volunteer who was actively involved in the local 592 union as an executive member. He also volunteered countless hours to support his children and the local swim club. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Canadian Breast Cancer foundation in memory of Ian and Francis Nicholson.
