ELLIOTT, Claude Fritz - (1917-2015) Clarence, NS. Claude passed away peacefully on March 4, 2015 in Mountain Lea Lodge which had been his home for the last 21 months. He was the son of Vera Myrle (Fritz) and Stuart Harry Elliott. Claude was a life resident of Clarence, Annapolis County and attended Acadia University earning a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) in 1940. Returning to Clarence, he married his high-school sweetheart, Helen, in 1942 and operated a mixed farm until retirement. Claude loved to sing and his children fondly remember his singing of hymns on clear spring and summer mornings to call the cattle in for milking. Very active in community life, Claude was a life-long member of the Clarence Baptist Church (Deacon) and involved in the N.S. Fruit Growers, Federation of Agriculture, County 4-H Council and 4-H Club. He was involved in the Annapolis County Exhibition from 4-H exhibitor at the age of 10 to President for many years and honorary President until his death. He was a Director with Kings Mutual Insurance and also active in the formation of Credit Unions in the local area. Well known for his beautiful singing voice, he was a member of the Lawrencetown Male Choir and was always willing to share his music at local weddings and funerals. Claude was also proud of his 74 year association with the Evangeline Lodge of Free Masons, acting in a number of positions including Master. He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Helen Louise (Bishop) and children Sharon (David) Longley, Anne (Gordon) Flewwelling, and Eugene (Carol O'Neill) Elliott: 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is survived by sister-in-law Edna Joyce Clarke. He was predeceased by brothers Kenneth, Earl and Harold. He was dearly loved and is sadly missed. Cremation has taken place. Donations in memory may be made to Clarence Baptist Church, V.O.N. or Mountain Lea Lodge Recreation Dept.
A Celebration of Life service will take place at 2:00 p.m. in the Clarence Baptist Church on Saturday, June 20, 2015.
