Iva Mackin

MACKIN, IVA
Iva Mae (Fullerton) Mackin passed away peacefully on June 6, 2015 at Kennebec Manor. Her husband passed a few months before her, causing her health and spirits to decline. She will be sadly missed. Iva was born on August 18, 1943, to the late Evileen and John MacIsaac. She spent most of her childhood with her aunt Vivian Spence, whom she loved very much.
Iva spent most of her career as a switchboard operator at St. Joseph’s Hospital, and then as a homemaker/personal support worker caring for the elderly.
She was a homebody who enjoyed good food, relaxing at home listening to country or the Gaither's gospel band, and shopping. As of late, due to her health issues she couldn't get out too much so she spent her outings at the mall and uptown at the beautiful City Market. She also enjoyed the company of her homemakers that visited daily to help her around the home. She loved her little apartment and new friends that she had made.
Iva is survived by her two daughters; Margaret Wright of Saint John, Kelly Mackin of Ajax,ON; and sons Jamie (Holly) Mackin of Calgary, AB; Charles Flecknell of Saint John; and Stewart and Steven Bonenfant of New Brunswick. Iva will be missed by her grandchildren Taylor Mackin, Dylan Wright, Matthew Wright and Samantha McDade and great-grandchildren Carter Mackin, Connor Mackin and Benjamin McDade.
Along with her husband Fred Mackin, Iva was predeceased by her sisters Joan and Maureen and brothers Dale and Ronnie. She is survived by brothers Earl and Fred and sisters Mavis, Anna and Ruby.
On Friday, June 12th there will be a Celebration of Life at the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Nursing Home in the guest lounge at 130 University Avenue between the hours of 10 am thru 12 pm.
