Peacefully at the P.E.I. Atlantic Baptist Nursing Home on Friday, January 30, 2009, of Mr. George E. “Okie” Hughes of Charlottetown in his 74th year. Dear brother of Alice (Frank) Roberts, Corran Ban; Mary (Bob) Roberts, Charlottetown; Maurice Hughes, Montreal; Anne Hughes, Charlottetown and Evelyn Battah, Toronto. He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Theresa (nee Pineau) Hughes and brothers, Jimmy and John Hughes. A private memorial service will be held in the Hennessey Funeral Home Chapel. Interment later in the family plot in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to Pat & the Elephant. No visitation by personal request.
