We regret to announce the sudden passing of our mother, Sylvia (Getto) Medjuck, on Thursday, July 9, 2015.
Sylvia was born in Inverness on Sept. 7, 1933 to the late Joseph and Matilda (Gillis) Getto. She was a member of the Parish of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Church, New Waterford.
She will be sadly missed by her sons, Maury (Denise), Ottawa, David (Kathleen), Canso; her precious grandchildren, Allison, Cameron, Brett and Kyle; many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She is also survived by her sisters, Hermine Getto, New Waterford, Sarah Wellner, Fredericton and brother, Carl (Agatha), New Waterford.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Bernard 'Dooley' Medjuck; sisters, Rosie Habicht, Margaret Thurbide, Leonie Hadley, Catherine Marchesin, Georgina MacDonald and Matilda Blouin.
As per her request, there will be no visitation or funeral service as her remains have been donated to Dalhousie University, Department of Medical Neuroscience for the furtherance of medical science.
There will be a celebration of her life at 2 p.m., Monday, July 13th at St. Leonard Parish Hall, Convent Street, New Waterford.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA or Children at Risk (Ottawa).
