Jean Ham
A memorial celebration of the life of Jean Ham will be held at 2:00 o'clock, July 25th in Brock, Sk. at the Vesper Club.
Jean Margaret Kathleen Ham (nee: Arnold) passsed away February 26th in Calgary at the age of 91. She was the much loved mother of Roberta Amos and Gail Bourbouhakis; grandmother of Craig Amos (Leanna Isayew) and Brad Amos, and Alex Bourbouhakis; great grandmother of Emily and Kayley Amos; beloved long-time partner of Cliff Young. She will also be remembered by extended family and cherished friends.
Jean was an active member of the Darcy and Brock communities in her early years. During her high school years she and her mother and sisters often played and sang at local events. Jean completed her teaching degree and taught school for several years before marrying Jim Ham and starting a family in Brock. They moved to Prince Albert Sk. in 1956 where Jim and Jean established Northern Tire and Battery.
Jean was an active community leader in both Brock and Prince Albert. She was a member of the Royal Auxilary to the Royal Canadian Legion for 24 years, the Rebecca Lodge, Lion L's, Sweet Adelines, often serving as President of these associations. She was an active member in the United Church of Canada. She took part in her daughters' activities including CGIT and Girl Guides. Jean enjoyed curling and golf. She also studied French and Spanish.
Since 1986 Jean divided her time between Victoria B.C. and Arizona with her partner Cliff Young. They enjoyed golf, travelling and the companionship of close friends. Since being predeceased by Cliff Young in 2008, Jean lived in Calgary near her family.
