At Whisperwood Villa on Monday, February 2, 2009, of Mary Irene McKenna (nee MacKenzie) of Charlottetown, and formerly of Iona, in her 85th year. The last surviving member of her family, Irene was predeceased by her parents, William Murdock and Sadie (Dougherty) MacKenzie, and by her siblings, Andrew, Lester, Matthias, Alex and Barbara. Irene was also predeceased in 1992 by Louis, her husband of 50 years, and also by two children in infancy, Bernice and William Joseph. Mourning the loss of their mother are Michael (Norma), Ont.; Blair (Sharon), East Royalty; Clayton (Patricia), Iona; Sandra McMullin (Matt), Eastern Passage, N.S.; Danny (Judy), Timberlea, N.S.; Anthony (Karen), Cornwall; David (Jean), Norway; Marlene McKenna, Sherwood and Nancy MacLeod (Marty), Kinross. Left with memories of a loving Grammie are her 19 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Survived by her dearest friends. Dorothy Brady and Kay Livingston. Resting at Belvedere Funeral until Thursday at 9:45, then to St, Michael’s Church, Iona, for funeral mass at 10:30. Interment in the parish cemetery. Visitation Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9.
