It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of Lynda Ruth MacDonald on Monday, Aug. 3, 2015, at the age of 52 in Nanaimo, B.C.
Born in Whitney Pier, she was the daughter of Muriel MacDonald and the late James 'Bimbo' MacDonald.
Lynda left Sydney in 1983 for Alberta where she met Larry and from there they went to B.C. where they made their home.
Her many friends in Sydney knew her as 'Farmer' ... the nickname of her older brother Mike and adopted by Lynda herself. All who met Lynda took a liking to her easily and she still has many friends here in her beloved Cape Breton after an absence of more than 30 years. Lynda was sporty, she was a figure skater, then went on to play ringuette and hockey in junior high. She was crowned 'Miss Pier Legion Br. 128' during Action Week of 1981.
Lynda will be sadly missed by her mother, daughters Megan (Travis), grandson Silas, Shauna (Keenan) and Jessie; sisters, Sandy, Janice (Murray), Elizabeth (Kirby) and Marnie; brothers, David (Lucye) and Michael (Lana) and their families.
Besides her father she was predeceased by her partner Larry, a sister Shauna and a niece Rebecca.
Interment has taken place in Nanaimo. A memorial service will be held in Sydney at a later date.
Donations may be made to a charity of choice.
