A celebration of life of the late Richard (Dick) Gallant formerly of Summerside will be held on Saturday, September 12th at 4:00 p.m. at the Parkview Seniors Centre, 335 Central Street, Summerside. Dick passed away in Thunder Bay, Ontario on November 9th, 2014. While leaving Summerside at just 16, he always considered "The Island" his home and returned over the years with his family many times. He always eagerly visited his old haunts looking for friends and relatives to reconnect with. He was a proud Islander!!!
Even during failing health, he made two more treks home in 2014 to help his sister (Rena) celebrate a major birthday in April and then again in July to see one of his favourite nieces (Mikala Gallant) get married. No one could believe he'd make either trip, let alone both!! As the end neared, his final wishes were that his ashes be brought home and scattered on the Northumberland Strait, which occurred earlier, with his immediate family in attendance.
All family members and friends of Dick's are invited to join us for refreshments and a light lunch as we share special times and memories of a great Islander and good friend to all.
