HOBBS, Alvin Walter - Passed peacefully away at Palliative Care Unit with his family at his side after a short courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, January 31, 2009 age 74 years. Formerly of Red Cliff, Bonavista Bay. Retired Nfld Power Employee. Predeceased by parents Hubert and Bertha, wife Theresa, brother Jack. Leaving to mourn his five children: Debbie (Max Stagg), David, Brenda, Tony (Lorna) and Lisa (Doug Harding); grandchildren: Michael, Melissa, Matthew, Ashley, Amanda and Krystal and great-granddaughter Julia. Sisters: Mavis Quinton and Hattie Russell; step-sister Rosalie; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Philpott (James); special niece, Debbie Manual and his faithful companion, his cat Alley and other relatives and friends. A special thank you to community health nurse Kim Downton, RN, BN, staff of PCU. Visitation in the James J. Hickey Memorial Funeral Home, Kelligrews on Sunday and Monday, 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass in St. Thomas of Villa Nova Church, Manuels on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at 10 a.m. Cremation to follow.
