Brent Charles Shepherd
Born In: North Sydney
Born: October 4th, 1966
Passed on: August 17th, 2015
With saddened hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Brent Charles Shepherd of North Sydney on Monday, Aug. 17, 2015.
Brent was born on Oct. 4, 1966, in North Sydney, N.S. He was the son of Charles and the late Henrietta (Vardy) Shepherd of North Sydney.
Brent is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Pam (Campbell) Shepherd, his precious daughter, Sarah-Ann, his father, Charles, and a brother, Claude, both of North Sydney, sisters, Lorraine Jackson (Kippy) of Orangeville, Ont. and Sherry Ferguson of Hammonds Plains, N.S., as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Brent was also much loved by mother-in-law, Paula Campbell of North Sydney, sister-in-law, Denise Murray (Bob) of Stellarton, N.S., brother-in-law, Bobby Campbell (Leona) of North Sydney and sisters-in-law, Karen Campbell and Paula Campbell, both of Ontario.
Brent was predeceased by his mother, Henrietta Shepherd and a sister, Betty Shepherd.
Brent was at home in the woods and on the water – an avid hunter and proud captain of The Mira Mariner. A lobster fisherman at heart, he had a natural talent to dismantle and rebuild boat motors that was the envy of many of his fisher friends.
Hardworking, quiet and unassuming - he was always ready with a quiet chuckle and a helping hand. His love of family and friends was well known to all. Brent’s loss will also be felt by those frequenting the North Sydney Ballast Grounds, where he enjoyed lending a hand to friends and fellow fishermen or simply “shooting the breeze” over a Tim’s coffee.
Visitation will be on Thursday evening from 6-9 p.m. and Friday from 2-3 p.m. followed by a service in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Cremation will follow. A private committal service will be held at a later date.
The family thanks the North Sydney Fire Department First Responders, the Paramedics, and the doctors and nurses at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Emergency Services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a charity of choice.

Rest easy, my love, my dad, our friend, in fair winds and calm seas.
